Kannan GFE x Silvitaire/Silvio I
2003 Chestnut Oldenburg Mare
Saskia aka Sassy was born May 19, 2003. She was bred by Schockemohle and imported to the US in 2014. She is chestnut and stands at 16.2 hands. She is an Oldenburg mare by Kannan GFE and out of a mare by Silvio I.
Sassy competed in Germany, Mexico, and Canada under rider Nicolas Pizarro. In 2011, she began competing at 1.5 meter jumpers. In her first competition at 1.5m she placed 2nd out of 44! She continued to show her talent in the jumper ring for several years before being imported.
Sassy was purchased by Fox Lair in 2021. Her owner felt like it was her time to retire and Fox Lair was lucky enough to snatch her up! She is a very exciting addition to the broodmare band. Sassy will be presented to the American Hanoverian Society in 2021 and is will be considered for the Jumper Breeding Program.
Sassy will be bred to Imothep for an ET foal in 2021. She will also be bred to carry to Silver Creek's Vindication. Both of these crosses should prove to be excellent and produce high performance horses!
KANNAN will go down in Jumper history as one of the all-time great producers.
Kannan is a super well-bred stallion with winning ways and winning offspring! He carries blood from all the important jumping breeds of Europe: Voltaire, Furioso, Nimmerdor, Gotthard, Farn, Le Mexico – all great progenitors of modern jumper breeding.
Kannan’s competition successes have included:
In 1998, at the age of 6, he won the Belgian Classic Circuit;
In 1999, at 7 years old, he was Belgian Champion;
In 2000 he made his International debut by finishing 5th in a Grand Prix;
In 2003 Kannan won the Deauville Grand Prix;
In 2004 Kannan won at Paris Bercy and Jardy, as well as many other competition successes;
In 2003 & 2004 he was a regular member of the French team which won the Samsung Super League;
In 2005 he became French National Champion.
Kannan’s most well known son is “A Pikachu de Muze”, who won the six year old WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS at Lanaken in 2006. In 2006 he also produced the American 6YO Champion “Amis de Kannan”. He also has 11 offspring jumping at international level (2* and above). We look for him to provide scope, size and power, suitable for jumper courses or hunter ring, as his technique and movement are excellent as hunter type. Because of his size and strength, he is well suited to small to medium weight mares, which lack size, scope and power.
Silvio I was the winner of the Performance Test at Adelheidsdorf in 1990, with very high marks for his jumping ability. Silvio competed internationally with Franke Sloothaak. He has been the sire of a number of stallion sons including Sunrise, Sir Lui, Sir Holtrup, Sergeant Pepper and Spider Murphy. Silvio I is out of Goldkatze by the Gotthard son, Gepard who was an influential brood mare sire for Paul Schockemöhle. Goldkatze also produced the full-brother, Silvio II who passed his performance test with the highest index for jumping at Medingen in 1994. The granddam, Rhododendron (by the Thoroughbred, Ballyboy) produced PS Palm Springs, the reserve champion at the Bundeschampionate in 1987, and later an advanced showjumper. On the WBFSH standings for 2007, Silvio was 25th but in the 2009 rankings he had dropped out of the top 30.
The absolute most famous KWPN approved sire is the renown Nimmerdor. The already legendary bay stallion was sired by the illustrious 'keur' stallion Farn, whose influence on Dutch breeding in general is deeply felt, which together with his contribution to the sport, is demonstrated by his fourth place in the stallion jumping index. Nimmerdor's dam is 'ster’ Ramonaa. She is a daughter of the thoroughbred Koridon xx and her dam is Friedhilde II who was sired by the reputable Senator, while her lineage also includes Ulfried. During his performance test in 1975 Nimmerdor left no doubt as to his particular specialty; jumping. Preferent Nimmerdor was ridden at international level by Albert Voorn with whom he jumped in various world cups and made an impressive appearance at several important international competitions in for example Berlin, Paris, Gothenburg, Dortmund and London. Nimmerdor was invited to go to the Los Angeles Olympics but his owners declined as they considered it more important at the time that he devoted himself to his breeding activities. Nimmerdor is holding second place in the Dutch jumping index and breeds with a very high degree of heredity reliability [94%]. He is rated very highly in the WBFSH ranking. Nimmerdor is also approved for Holstein. Nimmerdor's enormous influence on breeding is not only felt in the Netherlands, but also in various countries abroad and his reputation is still growing. This can not be a surprise, considering that he has sired more than thirty approved stallions all over the world. When Nimmerdor was withdrawn from the sport, his children were already continuing the great family tradition. Up to Date, Optiebeurs Aldato, Zadok and Ahorn were remarkable international jumpers, but also San Patrignano Avenir, Den Haag, Canadian Colors are famous Nimmerdor children. His son Zapatero is heading for the highest dressage levels. Not to forget Amethist, a Nimmerdor approved son who sired Pan Am team gold medallist Donna Richardson's Jazzman. His daughters always finish well in front at conformation categories, frequently claiming championships, such as Confidence, Zancara, Barones, Golinda and Dehlia. His progeny have excellent breeding results.
