Susanna
Salvano x Adelgunde/Akzent II
1995 Bay Hanoverian Mare
Susanna was born April 16, 1995 in Germany. She is bay and stands at 16.1 hands. She is registered Hanoverian and is Main Studbook with AHS. She is also in the MMB for GOV.
In 1998, Susanna completed her Mare Performance Test for the German Hanoverian Society in Altenbruch, Germany. She received an overall final score of 7.22, boasting scores of 8's for Jumping Ability and Jumping Technique.
Fox Lair purchased Susanna early 2010, in foal to Sinatra Song. She is one of our foundation broodmares and ended up producing two fillies for us; the first, Savannah, in 2010, and the second, Evette, in 2012. Both fillies were given her modern look and incredible movement. Savannah has been retained for our breeding program.
Susanna has been retired from breeding. She remains on the farm and will live out the rest of her days with us.
Sender:
Sender first stood in Drochtersen, where Senator was also born. His best-known stallion sons were Saloniki, Salut and Sendbote. Sender produced top showjumpers such as Sarto 3 with H.W. Johannsmann, Soltau and Bernhard Kamps and Norbert Koof’s Sethos 2. Sender provided a line that, more by good fortune than design, has produced one of the most famous dressage competitors of all time – Anky van Grunsven’s Salinero… although it should be noted that when Horst Bünger put his solidly jumping mare, Luna (Lungau / Wendekreis) to Salieri, he was hoping for a showjumping star – like Salinero’s full-brother, Seven Up, who also competed at the Athens Olympic Games in the Korean jumping team.
Abglanz:
The chestnut Abglanz was perhaps the most influential stallion of modern times in the Hannoverian breeding district, and his infusion of Trakehner lightness and ‘blood’ can be clearly seen in today’s modern Hannoverian horse. Although the lightly framed Trakehner was not initially welcomed in an era when agricultural horses were in great demand. Abglanz was royally bred, his dam, Abendluft was a full-sister to the influential stallions, Absinth, Absalon and Abendstern. At the stallion station at Jork, he produced three famous brothers - Abhang I, II and III, as well as their full sister, Zukunft who competed with success internationally with Alwin Schockemöhle. Just 160 cm, Abhang I produced elegant horses but without great performance success. Abhang II, at 157 cm, was the smallest of the three brothers, but produced great dressage horses, with charm and movement. Abhang III, the tallest of the three, sired mainly showjumpers. All told Abglanz sired 19 Approved sons, with progeny earnings of over DM324,000. Abglanz and his progeny are credited with bringing about great improvement in the head and neck of the Hanoverian horses.As Abglanz spent his entire breeding career in Celle servicing the Hannoverian brood mare population, his influence in the Trakehner studbook was limited, and he produced only nine registered Trakehner daughters and three Trakehner sons, Kassio, Morgenglanz and Valentin. Kassio produced the mother of the stallion, Kassiber, who was such a success in Australia as a sire of dressage horses.
Lugano I:
Lugano I was a very successful jumper. He typified the contribution of the exceptional thoroughbred stallion, Der Lowe xx in Hanoverian breeding. Der Lowe xx was considered to be the most important and influential thoroughbred stallion of all the stallions standing the Hanoverian state stud at Celle. Der Lowe produced many international calibre sporthorses who were known for their expressive movement, such as Der Lord, Loriot, Lucky Boy, and Lugano I and Lugano II. When Der Lowe died at the age of 29, his skeleton went on display at the Verden Horse Museum, where it still is today. Lugano I, despite showing exclusively as a show jumper, became well-known for producing both exceptional show jumping horses as well as dressage horses who were able to compete successfully at the upper levels of the sport. One of his great stallion sons was the Belgian horse, Lugano van la Roche, born 1963 and died in 1988, who earned lifetime earnings of DM773,000, and which one must take into consideration that prize money awarded in his lifetime was not anything like it is today. Following this line, Lugano van la Roche sired the great stallion Darco, who was ranked #1 on the WBFSH jumping sires list in the years 2011, 2010, 2009, and 2008. Other great stallions that Lugano sired included Lundi de Paques, and Luxus. His son, Gagliano competed to Grand Prix Dressage. Other sport horses he sired included Traxdata La Ina, Isaura van de Helle, and Bollvorm's Egano. Lugano I ranked 5th in the WBFSH list for sires of international showjumpers in 1995.
